Can you see me run Grandma...am I as fast as flash?
Can you see my arms move?

Come and see what I did Grandma.

Iconic Time

That magic time of year is here when the numbers are consecutive in years.
5,6,7,8,9
5 for our biggest little baby
6 for our ladybug
7 for our wild blonde haired boy
8 for our ray of sunshine
and
9 for our middle rose.
The magic time stops in June when the wild blonde haired boy turns 8
and the Time Bandit strikes again.

There is a time for everything
and a season for every activity
under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Time Bandit Tuesday

I remember this day...your older sister was at school all day.
We went out to get the mail.
I grabbed my camera...

"Act like Laura Ingalls at the beginning
of Little House on the Prairie!" I said.
And you did, this little sprite of a girl.

Happy Birthday Dolly,
Our Wild Haired Blonde Boy
is definitely your Mini Me.

Time Bandit Tuesday and a special Happy Birthday

Our Ladybug arrived 6 years ago,
She was all made up to go to the Ball,
She has grown and  flourished in the household
God has given her to.
What would we do without her?

Your eyes saw my unformed body,
all the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Antique and Littlest

The Roses made it through the day
They each chose Portillo's as their
food of choice.
Now, we wait for results.
Thank you for your prayers.

Roses, Antique and Littlest

Pray for these two...
one is at Children's today
one will see the doctor today.
We pray for a good outcome.
And guess what? It is snowing!
Lovely day, lovely day.

Nature Helps

I had a busy day...had to coordinate a doctor's appointment for Antique Rose with my dear, darling sister...tried to figure out the medical bills from Mercy(good Lord, good luck with that), went on errands and then home to have lunch. Corned beef on rye, wasn't nearly as good as I was hoping and I don't know why.
Vacuumed and felt all achy and tired. Read a bit of a book and the phone rang. It was my cousin, my Dad's twin brother passed away yesterday. That side of the family is gone now. I feel a heaviness inside. I saw him last year when my Aunt died...he was the same but fragile. Our families had lost touch over the years...but I still remember him so clearly...the brush haircut, the snapping, smiling blue eyes, ready to laugh at a moments notice and the string of words that could come out of his mouth...he swore like a sailor (and he was).
After we hung up, the heaviness on me was oppressive. I bundled up and the boys and I entered the backyard to scoop all kinds of things. The snow was falling like powdered sugar and it stuck to my eyelashes. The air was cold and still. I finished that chore and went to the front to shovel off a bit of snow collecting on the driveway. The sadness was still there, but I felt better.
Thank you for the healing of nature, Jesus. Thank you that you are in control. Thank you that you hold the future.

Antique Rose

Doesn't she look great? 90 years and counting...I always thought I would inherit her great health but I seem to be getting all kinds of things that mom doesn't have. She has been very blessed with great health until The Stroke. About 11 years ago. She is left handed and the doctor said that was a very good thing. Most people wouldn't know anything is different about her. Just subtle things, but I notice and I wonder...
She loves her great grandchildren very much and takes much joy in them. Here she is holding our littlest Rose...who doesn't sit still very often so Great Grandma was very happy to have her on her lap.
Antique Rose doesn't want much, she doesn't long for things to keep and clutter up the place. She just wants to know that she can see and enjoy her family. And food...she likes food. I did inherit that trait from her. She talks often of her own mother's cooking. They lived on a farm and didn't want for much in the way of food although they were poor. She has told me that she didn't know they were poor. She and her 8 brothers and sisters always had what they needed.
She has the prettiest handwriting. Too bad they are not teaching that in school anymore. Her spelling is great, another thing apparently not being taught very well to our youngsters.
Sometimes I think the old ways were best, maybe not all but some.
To our Antique Rose, a strong, smart, hardworking and sensible woman. I always think of her as a sturdy French horse (Laura Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie books).

Proverbs 17:6 Children's children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children.

Sundog

There is something about this video...I feel so many emotions watching it...happy, sad, joy, wonder, yearning...the music fits so beautifully. I will have to investigate Lord Huron who performed and wrote it. Let me know if this touches you.  My biggest, little baby did not want to watch it, but all of a sudden he sat up straighter and said, this makes me feel happy!

Northern Lights

I have seen the Northern Lights...but nothing like these. I found this by accident on youtube. Thank you for publishing this and sharing with the world.

The words I think of when I see this are:

How great Thou art...
To God be the glory great things He has done...

Job 38:31-33
Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God's dominion over the earth?

AWESOME

Out of the comfort zone

So, this year I have been talking to myself. I want to try and be more spontaneous and get out of my cocoon which I have woven tightly around myself. Hopefully myself will listen and I will even remember what it was I said. Anyway, today after visiting with the antique Rose I got gas...no not that kind...for the car! However the needle was on the orange part! What you say? Yep, I waited that long to get it. It was closing in on E...E for empty!  Generally as the needle heads to the halfway mark I am at the station pumping...
I must say it is a pleasure filling up the car these days. $24.00 filled the car up, $1.97/gal.  Remember the good old days...when I got my first car, gas was 25 cents! Yikes.

A Plymouth Duster
My first car
Think I paid $1000.00 for it brand new.
My parents lent me the money.
I had a job and paid them every month 'til it was all mine.
I found this picture on the internet...I don't know who to credit.
I am now driving a Buick...yes I am driving my mother's car. No wait! She had a white Mustang with opera windows. It was very slick.
I did own a Dodge Stealth for a while. Best car I ever owned, fast, warmed up quickly, handled like a dream in the snow and ice. Handsome hunted it down and bought it for me. It was my mid-life crisis car. One of these days I will post a picture.
One step out of the comfort zone...even if it is a small one.

Now if I could just be as brave as this littlest Rose!
Well, I'll work on that...

It must be January!!!!

When I was younger, oh wait that was just last year...I used to hate January...it was always so cold. The days got longer, but that didn't seem to help.

I have noticed over the years that the sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and moonsets are spectacular. I don't know what it is, but I have never seen colors like these in the warmer parts of the world.

The Wolf Moon Rises
And then the Dawn

The moon was a ghostly galleon...

Moonset (is that a word? See it there peaking about halfway down the tall tree?

The snowflakes were huge.
Do you want to build a snowman?

The snow hung onto the trees and made a winter wonderland for several days.

Sunrise! Top that Florida, Hawaii...
I think we win here in the Midwest.

The Chinook winds have been blowing...we need a freeze or the Mud season will start early around here. I must admit I have enjoyed winter so far. It was horribly cold to begin with. I just
hope we don't have to shovel too much and if we do, it is the kind that angels send down. You know when they have their pillow fights. Handsome is having shoulder trouble and I have some troubles of my own, so shoveling is a bit of a scary prospect right now.

This was last year.
Let's hope this doesn't happen again anytime soon. forever. never.
