It's Official

I now have had the loooongest birthday celebration in the family. It has been almost a year since my last birthday. I had a rocky year health wise.  I had asked Handsome for tickets to see Sarah Brightman. She was to perform in March of this year. Well, she postponed 'til September. And now I must tell you about my weekend.

Handsome's McQueen car is fixed and we got to go cruising.

After a very rough week, Handsome enjoyed the relaxation of a purring motor under his capable hands, no traffic. And most importantly NO ROAD CONSTRUCTION. There is something about the autumn air blowing through your hair. The shimmering light on your skin, the golden fields zipping by. The smell of apples is in the air. It gives me a nostalgic, longing feeling, that almost makes me cry. It is all so BEAUTIFUL.

Handsome insisted on taking us out for dinner. We went to our favorite restaurant. It is on the way to the concert. The skies turned dark and rain looked imminent. We were seated immediately. Handsome's prime rib was done perfectly and was so large it was hanging over the plate. My chicken kabob was moist and juicy, the vegetables done well with a bit of char, but not soggy. I love the lemon sauce that comes with. Handsome had the forethought to bring a cooler, so leftovers are on the menu the next couple of days.

Then the concert. Sarah is lovely with the voice of an angel. We had excellent seats and could see and hear wonderfully. My only complaint was: the backgrounds of space and lightning and drawings were so busy, she would get lost among them. Her costumes were beautiful and she did many changes in a small amount of time. The lights from the stage also would shine in the audiences eyes. I whispered to Handsome...Seizure?  And we would laugh.

Here is an potpourri of her show. The second half was most enjoyable. She sang Phantom of the Opera and Time to Say Goodbye.

So it's official. Happy birthday to the Fairy Grandmother...who has the longest running birthday ever!
Thanks Handsome for a most wonderful, beautiful birthday. Thank you Jesus for the incredible day.

Lovely day

Our family's favorite past time...
The family who shucks together...
Stays together...

Couldn't believe how long they were on the trampoline.

Like I said we LOVE our corn.

Handsome finally got his birthday presents...
but I think his favorites are pictured here.

What is better than hugs and kisses.

Especially juicy ones.

You can't get a kiss out of this one often...
He likes to give you his forehead.

She loves her grandpa...
Even if his moustache smells like corn and butter.
EWWWWWWWWWWWW

He got them all except one on the cupcakes.

What a blessing this group of minions are.
Our quiver is full.
Thank you Jesus.

My Biggest Little Baby

This little guy was lost yesterday...His big sister and brother started school. I should have done something special with him but we have been together since he was born and I just thought he would go with the flow.

He was very good. "You play me Gaama?"  Of course...we played Ninja Turtles, he grew bored. "Me watch mobie (movie) Gaama". He requested Ninja turtles on the tv.

Then it happened...HE STARTED PLAYING WITHOUT ME!  AND to top it all off, he didn't WANT ME TO PLAY.  Say what? This has never happened in my 9 years of grandmothering. Now I was discombobbled! "Me play by self".  THEN he gathered all his toys in a bag and went UPSTAIRS. "You want me to come too?" "No" he said.  I checked on him shortly and brought a magazine. I was going to watch him play from the couch.  The little STINKER gathered up all his toys and went DOWNTAIRS. Grandma's heart was breaking. I called downstairs..."Call me if you need me."

A while later I hear, "Gaama, Me need you. Me pooped." I must say I was glad to change that poopy diaper. I was allowed in his presence at last. "Me need Middle Rose and my Wild Blonde Boy". He was missing his peeps.  We had lunch and watched a bit of Ninja Turtles...then we sang songs and he took a nap. I had to awaken a very sleepy boy and we rockied for a while and went to get the Big kids. He chirped and ran around the house after we came home with the goods. He was a very happy boy. Grandma was very happy too.

Next week he goes off to preschool WHAT WILL I DO?

Pingle Bank

So we went to visit these two.
Our minions.
So cute.
So fun.

But on to the pingle bank (piggy bank) in the littlest rose's speak.
She was so excited about her Hello Kitty bank.
We started putting her money in.
It made a satisfying sound as it dropped to the bottom of the container.
Then two coins got stuck in the slot.
Grandma used a knife to dislodge them and lo and behold
the back of Hello Kitty's head broke off!
Needless to say I was dumbfounded and wanted to cry.
Little rose said "It's okay Gaaama...its accident.

Well, got home. Went directly to Walmart.
Picked up new Pingle Bank.
I hope she likes it.
I like it. I love her.
Love you...Gaaama
PS...I can't have anything nice, right mama?

Happy Birthday Handsome

Happy birthday Mr. President!

Ravinia, what a nice venue.

What a sea of humanity...although I didn't get claustrophobia.

#1 had the great idea to get tickets!

Wenna Woo made wonderful strawberry shortcakes in a jar.

#2 wrangled the wagon, and that was a job and I'm not talking about the Dolly.
See the deadly red wagon...
Say what? Are we going to Florida?

An excellent spread of fresh melon, hummus, meats and cheeses, bread, garden
vegetable and various desserts. We didn't get a photo of the cookies Dolly made.
But you would have wanted a cupful of them!
And the piece de resistance...
Josh Groban.
What a lovely voice.
What a wonderful day.
What a wonderful evening.
Happy Birthday!

Breaking the silence

Well, its been a long time since I wrote anything. Partly lazy (a lot lazy), partly very sick, small part busy. Spring's wonders came and went. My most favorite the lilacs. I really think heaven will smell like that. Lily of the valley, oh my, grow along the front of the house. Due to my lack of oomph I didn't even bring so much as one of those into the house. I am kicking myself still. The tulips which I planted last year were glorious. Those didn't get into the house either. Thanks to my grandchildren I had a small bouquet that they picked to brighten up the place.

We have had 5 birthdays already this year. It is now June and I am still lost in April. Where has the time gone? Anybody? Buehler?

I'll share some snippets of the past months here. Actually they are photographs, but I like the word snippets...a captured shot of time...

Christmas, Grandpa and grandkids
who could ask for anything more?

So beautiful with the sun on his hair...

6 years old how fast the time is going!

Our biggest little baby in his first play.
I would say the word ham comes to mind.

The iconic time of year when their ages are
7,6,5,4,3
A really special snippet in time.

Our littlest Rose turned 4. Unbelievable...she is a wonder.
And he turns 6 and the magical birth order is over for another year. (76643)

Hey Middle Rose...I will follow you wherever you go!

She is getting to be such a young lady.

She could charm the shoes off of a punkin horse.
Sunshine on his face...what a Ray!

I love Grandpa hugs!

Good Bye my Special Friend

I remember when I first met you, I was put off by your funny face. But you wiggled your way rapidly into my heart. Even after peeing your way all around the kitchen table, I still thought you were the best. You are the best snuggler. And you and I would sit on the "forbidden couch" and ignore the glares of your parents so we could snuggle. Who will I snuggle with now...you who did the happy dance when we would visit, and wiggle your nub of a tail and turn yourself into a pretzel. You didn't even want Sarge around me. You thought I was yours and I was...I was your special grandma and I will miss you much. You have left a paw print on my heart.
It is a fearful thing to love what death can touch.

It will be a glad day for Chili...
What took you so long, my Finchy forever friend?

Happy VERY Belated Birthday #1

Well #1 a big apology for missing your birthday blog post. Here are a few pitchers of the big celebration. You were sick but held up well.

Luscious, decadent cake...went into a coma myself.
